MonoRail Quickly - Screencast

Update: Zip file links have been updated due to the first one being corrupt!

Well it was bound to happen at some point.  My first screencast.  It's a quick walkthrough on how you can get a baseline MonoRail solution up and running.  Yeah, I know.  Everyone's talking about MS MVC these days, and I'm certainly just as excited about it as anyone else.  But MonoRail is still a very nice MVC framework that can be fully leveraged now.

So I thought this screencast along with its accompanying zip file might help folks interested in MonoRail, or just ASP.NET MVC frameworks in general, to get one up and running quickly with everything you need (including an automated build script).

Let me know what you think!

(Thanks to my fellow LosTechies crew for hosting the screencast for me.)

Happy Coding!

This is awesome! The Binsor, Nant, and log4net stuff, specifically, are the missing pieces of my MonoRail development puzzle.

This is a huge help, thank you for publishing it Joey! :)

Great screencast, Joey. The solution set up stuff at the beginning was worth the price of admission alone.

During the TDD part, you moved a file from one project to another -- I saw Ben Scheirman do it during his screencast too -- how do you do this? Its been bothering me for weeks now, knowing that I dont have to reach for the mouse to do this.

Thanks again for publishing this, Im look forward to the next one.

Can you repost the zip file? Seems to be corrupt.

Thanks
Joe

@Tim,
Glad to hear it was a help to you Tim!

@Joe
To move a file from one project to another, you can just simple cut and paste (Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V) without having to use the mouse. That's how I did it in the screencast.

Oh, and thanks for letting me know about the zip file being corrupt. I've updated it with what hopes will be fine. That was very strange, because the zip file you saw me download in the screencast is the exact one that was linked to in this post. And as you saw, in the screencast the zip file extracted perfectly fine. Seems like something on Google's end corrupted it. Strange...

Anyway, thanks again for letting me know.

I am sorry but i don't understand what this is about.
Perhaps you should describe in more general terms what you are doing... click here, click there... build file.. im lost.
But then again I'm just learning monorail.

Who is this JP you are always referring to?
Is there a link to his screencasts?

@ddesse,
Sorry, I apologize. Jean-Paul Boodhoo is the famous "JP" in this case. Besides being a good friend, he's done some great stuff in the .NET community through his blog, training classes and screencasts. Here are some links...

Blog: http://jpboodhoo.com/blog
DNRTV Screencasts (look for JP's episodes): http://dnrtv.com

Hope that helps...

Ah great thanks.
Good stuff by the way. I especially like when you apply monorail to production environment (i.e. multiple developers practices, source control etc..).

You should definitely post some more!
